Snowboarding is considered an extreme sport and therefore has risks associated with it. There are many different injuries that can happen due to snowboarding. Learning what can be done to prevent them is essential if you want to master snowboarding without hurting yourself. So whether you’re off to the winding pistes of Zermatt or a val d isere ski resort, here are some tips to help you stay safe while you’re out on the terrain.

The first tip is to make sure you are physically fit. You can do this by working out in the gym to build leg muscles and your core stability. You should workout before snowboarding or at least do some basic stretching and warming up.

The second tip is to make sure you are hydrated enough. This might think this sounds silly, but dehydration is a big cause of injury due to your body getting a workout on the slopes. There are special made bags that have an attached hose and reservoir that you hook to your chest so you can get your fluids while on the slopes.

The third tip is to follow all the rules and guidelines while snowboarding. These rules are put in place to help keep you safe. It might be tempting to take short cuts or go past your bounds when snowboarding, but do not do this. The boundaries are put there for a good reason and usually it is because of crevices or dangerous cliffs that you cannot see.

The fourth tip is to wear the proper clothing and safety gear. Clothing should not be too tight and allow you to move around freely. It is almost impossible to snowboard if you are bound up too tight and unable to move properly. Also, your clothes should be water proof and your safety gear should be on before attempting to hit the slopes.

The fifth and final tip, and possibly the most important, is DON’T FORGET YOUR PHONE. Smartphones can be invaluable if you get into a tricky situation outdoors and need to be located and helped to safety.

It is easy to get caught up in the moment when snowboarding and this can lead to serious injury. By taking the proper steps to make sure you are doing what you should be, it will help to minimize your chances of getting injured.

Whether you’re an experienced skier or not, snowboarding is a whole other monster from your normal ski holidays that you are used to. Before tackling the slopes consider trying on the snowboard in your yard or even your living room. Once you are a bit more comfortable you can think about heading out to the snow. You will need to start on a flat area or a very small incline. Experienced skiers should not try to jump right into the bigger slopes. Start out slow until you get used to the feel and positioning of a snowboard.

If you aren’t ready to put on your board then turn it upside down so that it doesn’t slide away. When you’re ready to start, turn the board over. If you are on any sort of incline then attach the leash to your ankle before attempting to step into the bindings. Be sure to put your front foot into the bindings. Make sure that your foot, including your heel, is fitted securely. Buckle the ankle strap first and the toe strap second. The straps should be secured but not uncomfortable.

Do not buckle your other foot in yet. Pick the board up and down with the foot that is attached. Maneuver the snowboard in front of you and then behind you while bending your leg at the knee. This exercise will help you to become more familiar and accustomed to the feel of the board. Once you’ve gotten a feel for the board you can begin to practice different techniques, skill sets and overall maneuvers.

A very useful skill to have in order for you to get from one hill to another is skating. This involves attaching your front foot to the snowboard with the appropriate bindings. Leave the back foot free to provide the force or skating motion. Use your back foot to press the snowboard forward over and over in a skating motion. Be careful that your back foot does not go in front of the front foot at any time.

Just about everyone around the world likes some sort of sport or hobby. No matter what type of sport it is, there is some type of equipment that goes along with it. When taken really seriously, sports can get rather expensive. Snowboarding is a good example of this. Although it is a very fun sport, there is the need for equipment, clothes and gear. Also, depending on your snowboarding level, you have to consider where you will be snowboarding. It probably isn’t worth shelling out for a Val D’ísere Chalet just yet…

Snowboarding does not have to break the bank. In fact, you can enjoy this sport on a cheap budget. This doesn’t mean that you should buy equipment that will fall apart on you the first time down the slope. Proper planning is all you need to cut your snowboarding costs.

For instance, taking care of the equipment and gear you have will enable to you reuse it again next year instead of going out and buying everything new. Buying off season can make all the difference when it comes to pricing. You can usually find equipment such as helmets, goggles, boots, bindings and jackets on sale during the late winter season. You can also find equipment sold together at discounted rates.

You can buy your equipment online at places such as Craigslist, Gumtree and e-Bay. Many people use these places to sell their used (and new) equipment at reasonable prices. You will also find dealers and actual stores on these sites as well. It is important that you check the credentials of these sellers before you make any purchases.

Saving money doesn’t just apply to equipment and gear. You can save money on the actual sport itself by choosing less expensive places to snowboard. For example, you might want to consider a local snow covered terrain instead of the world famous Aspen slopes. Going this route can save you money on food and lodging as well.

Cheap snowboarding is actually the process of planning ahead of time and taking advantage of resources available to you.

One of the most popular winter sports in the world is snowboarding. In fact it has become so popular that it has now become a premiere event of the Winter Olympics.

While snowboarding, a lot of things have to be taken into consideration, the most important of which is the snowboarding gear. The list of the equipment depends on the requirement of the snowboarder.

The first equipment that is absolutely necessary is the snowboard. The snowboard resembles the surfboard, though smaller in size. For finding the right snowboard for your use, you must first of all determine your requirement and the kind of snowboarding you are planning to do. Snowboarding is of many kinds, which includes the free ride, the race and the freestyle. Each type of the sport requires a different kind of board.

While shopping for a snowboard, the width and length of the boards, tail and tip width and length, sidecut, maximum stance, weight and sliders, speed and binding holes should also be considered. If you are a woman, you can also find boards that have been specifically designed for your use.

The other types of gear that you should consider purchasing are the boots, winter wear such as hats, helmets, gloves and jackets and also the bindings.

As in the case of skiing, you must also make preparations to protect yourself from the extreme weather conditions. Warm clothing, hand and foot warmers, ear muffs, dryers for boots and some of the most essential items. Sunglasses, sunscreen, maps and basic hydration systems are also some of the required gear as the sport involves outdoor activities of extreme physical labor.

The other safety gear that should be considered is helmets and pads to prevent you from injuries, a first aid kit, a travel guide or map and a signaling device, in case you become lost or trapped somewhere, are helpful items, that should be carried along when snowboarding, once you are able to sort all of the above out, then you are ready to book at trip to chalets val d isere! Just remember that snowboarding is quite a hard thing to get a grip on, if it is your first time going you may want to consider booking lessons, and know that learning to carve is going to take you at least a couple of trips. But if you stick at it, once you get the basics down there is nothing to stop you!

The resorts at Mammoth Mountain, near California, is a hot destination for snowboard enthusiasts. Due to the heavy and consistent snowfall here, Mammoth Mountain or simply Mammoth is ideal for winter sportsand has become extremely popular with snowboarders, skiers, and other winter sports fanatics.

I drove to Mammoth from California and was rewarded with amazing views of Eastern Sierra. The landscape is truly spectacular. Valleys turned into mountains and then I glimpsed Mammoth majestically looming, in front of me.

It was thrilling to find countless acres of snow covered terrain, just waiting for me to put on my K2 Turbo Dream Rocker and free ride across it. Can you imagine the powerful adrenaline rush you can get by charging down precipitous cliffs and negotiating steep slopes in a smooth and fluid movement?

It was also great that even with many snowboarders around, I always found a trail to be on my own. In fact, the snow territory is so large that I could easily try out countless new trails. When I got a little weary of extreme snowboarding, I found diversion by riding dog sleds, skiing, or just chilling out in a bar.

The locals are friendly, the nightlife is happening, and the après-ski is lively. I found the food scene to be eclectic and pretty interesting. There is so much to do at Mammoth that I did not get bored for a second, during my month-long stay there. I was happy to try snowmobiling and tubing. My friends found Mammoth a great place to shop too.

My experience at Mammoth was quite unforgettable and I cannot wait to go back. There is an assortment of amusements available there but the best part of Mammoth is the expanse of beautiful snowy terrain that no snowboarder can disregard for very long.

There are plenty of really nifty gadgets out there, but you only come across something as cunningly designed as the ‘Grilliput’ every once in a blue moon. Whoever dreamed it up should win some kind of design award.

I’ve only been camping on a handful of occasions, but I am still going to order myself one of these. Believe me, if you have a look at the Grilliput it will make you want to rush out, buy a tent and book yourself a pitch!

When the Grilliput is not in use it just looks like a short stainless steel tube (16cm long). However, within a few minutes this can be transformed into an incredibly sturdy barbeque. I say sturdy because it is quite capable of supporting up to 560g of food! Now that’s impressive.

It is made up of two tubular sides (one of these is the outer shell when it is being stored) and twelve rods which form the actual grill. The amount of thought which has gone into the design of this gadget is astounding; there is even a special niche for scraping the prongs clean before packing them all away again. If only everything out there was designed as cleverly as this.

Anyone who goes camping will find it so much easier to use one of these for their cooking. Traditional style barbeques are an awful lot of clatting about and the disposable variety are actually very expensive if you buy them quite regularly. This is by far the best barbeque I have come across on the internet and it is also one of the greatest camping accessories I have seen.

Hello and welcome to my brand new blog. To summarize I am just a girl who grew up in the mountains who really likes to snowboard. This URL came up and I remembered when I was little and looked for a Sasquatch every time that I was out in the mountains. As it turns out I still look for them now, so I thought that it would be a good name for the site.

Anyways, the point of this blog is just to talk about snowboarding and life in general, if you are lucky you may get a bit about hockey as well! So watch this space, and as for who I stand behind in the Olympics? Go Canada Go!
